Girl’s night out… or in!
“You are who you surround yourself with”. One of life’s greatest treasures is the connection we share with our loved ones. Whether it’s our parents, friends, or cousins, so much joy can be derived from the bond and memories we share with one another. The best part is, that every single one of our connections is unique in its own way! From inside jokes, to past shared experiences and interests, we all have something that we uniquely share with each of our favourite people, that helps to deepen our connection with and provide a safe space for each other. Funnily enough, we also tend to develop different personality traits that are niche and unique to certain people that we’re close to! For example, who you are with your parents is probably a little bit different to who you are with your best pals… just a little 🙈 All in all, it’s safe to say that each of our loved ones brings out the best in all of us in their own ways 🥰
To think that one person can have such an effect on our lives is incredible! And what happens when a group of people, especially us girls, get together to partake in a shared activity? Multiply the fun by 5x, the giggles and laughter by 10x and the amount of emotional support by infinity, and you have a group of girls who can take on the world. Well maybe not literally, because sometimes we just want to paint our nails and bake cookies and call it a night! But the sisterhood shared between a group of girls can truly be powerful enough to charge up our senses of belonging, serenity and empowerment. And most times, this is enough to make us feel loved, safe and powerful enough to take on anything that life throws at us. After all, who run the world?
1. Dance the Night Away
After a whole week of working a 9-5, taking care of the kids, running around doing errands, or studying day and night for our unending exams, our time to de-stress is now upon us - when else but over the weekend. During this time, some prefer to rest, sleep and relax, but others love to let loose and have a ton of FUN! What better way than to hit the dancefloor, all glammed up, feeling absolutely fierce and untouchable? Hitting the dancefloor all glammed up, feeling absolutely fierce and untouchable with the girls, of course! Best believe, when we are hitting our best moves and jamming to our favourite tunes, it’s really us, our girls and the dancefloor against the world! 2. Bachelorette Party
Whilst we don’t always have to have a reason to celebrate and dance the night away with our girls, there are a few reasons why we may undertake such celebratory activities. One of them is the exciting, glorious times of walking down the aisle to wed the love of one’s life. I don’t know about you, but once the first wedding bells were heard in my group of girlfriends, it became a domino effect where the turn to wed is passed from one girl to the next, one after the other… And me, myself? Who knows when the ball will be passed to me next 🤷♀️ But just know, I am ALWAYS down to get down and celebrate with my girls! 3. Sleepover parties
We talked about how girl companionship can truly make us feel powerful enough to want to run the world. And who said we can’t run the world with facemasks on whilst wearing our best matching PJs? Hmmm well if running the world involved sharing our most intimate stories and life updates with each other, and doing our nails at the same time, and maybe even watching our favourite movies, too, then I can confidently say that running the world is an adventure I would gladly take part in with my girls all the time. 4. Shopping
The beauty about being our own, individual selves is that we’re all at different stages in our lives. Whether we are a college student squeezing in a part-time job in between our studies, a 9-5 girl boss living it up and making that bread, a hardworking mama taking care of her babies at home, we all deserve a little treat for ourselves. Life can be hard, and we deserve a reward! One of my personal favourite ways to treat myself is, you guessed it, having a little “treat myself” moment… at the mall. Warning ⚠️ when partaking in such activities with friends and family members who strongly encourage you to spend to your heart’s content, your bank account and purses may feel significantly slimmer than before. But that’s okay because money will always come back to you! And your happiness? Always the #1 priority, baby girl, and you deserve to spoil yourself! 5. Tea Parties
Sophisticated fashion and dressing fancy may not be a part of one’s daily style, but can we admit it must be pretty fun to dream out the life of living on a cottage farm, having tea and cakes with the girls, clad in our best floral attire and not having a single concern about life? Yes, yes, one might say that it is “life goals”, indeed. As a way to dedicate some quality time to the ladies of my family, I love having tea parties with my grandmother, mother and sister! Having a girl’s day out with them is always so much fun, and I have such fond memories every time. The connection and stories we share with each other despite our generational differences are something I truly cherish. Just like our tea, the memories we make are always sweet and warm, and I can never get enough of them. Here are some sophisticated tea party-themed wraps that I love!
6. Beach
Regardless of where you are in the world, one thing we can all agree on is that the weather plays a big part in our moods. I don’t know about you, but my favourite weather to spend time with my girls is when there is SUN! Nothing better than having the sun out, with the sun's rays hitting directly on your gorgeous skin Sometimes, our job is just beach 🏖
And there you have it, ladies and girlies. Just some of my favourite things to do with the ladies of my life 🥰 At the end of the day, the list of activities you can do with your favourite people is endless… or in other words, “the limit does not exist”. The most important thing is being able to share the special connection with your loved ones, which to me, feels like the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when eating your favourite homemade food, or when drinking hot cocoa on a chilly winter night or when snuggling underneath your blanket with any loved one (especially furry ones with whiskers). The closeness we feel to the people in our lives can truly evoke a sense of belonging, care and love that is so necessary when navigating this tough thing called life! When things get rough, as things do, a simple reach-out to a loved one can amazingly and magically help make us feel better, just like that! So if you’ve got a loved one out there, please remember to keep them close, tell them how much they mean to you and most importantly, plan your next outing together soon so you can plan which nail wraps to wear for it! 😝
